2011

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!

Welcome to 2011

Hello friends!

I looked down at our last post and it has been far too long! And so, to make up for our long absence, I am going to make this a long one. And I’m going to share some fun videos, stories, and other cool things I’ve come across since I’ve last posted.

I’m going to start us off with an video from a while ago that I daresay, I forgot to post! But it features OA Projects and The Buried Life talking about the project that was funded with the help of viewers’ actions! Congrats and Thanks to all who helped out!

Go to MTV’s site to check it out!

Disclaimer of sorts:

I just want to give a lil’ disclaimer to let you all know that I got a lot of edutainment from a website that I LOVE – it is: www.good.is. It has a bunch of stories and graphics and videos – by them and by others. The next few fun things to check out are from them…

Meet Eco Joe

To start off is this video I came across on GOOD and it made me laugh. It is called “Meet Eco Joe”.

My top favourite quotes from this video:

- “I don’t use a car. A) Because I don’t have a car…”

- “Could I save the entire world by myself? Absolutely. Will it go faster with other people? Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah. Yes it would.”

GE Ecomagination Challenge Winners

Continuing with the Eco theme I have another something I found on GOOD. This is an infographic of the 5 Winners of an Ecomagination Challenge which was to come up with ideas for renewable energy efficiency. Check it out HERE.

Trashy Novel

Here’s another video – by the same guys (GE Ecomagination and GOOD) who had a hand in the previous stuff. I can’t say why exactly – the music, the theme, the slightly unexpectedness of it, everything – but I quite enjoy this video.

Global Agents

Alrighty, this is a group I came across because of their “Riding to Break the Cycle” biking campaigns. They also do a bunch of other really neat stuff too. And they know how to suit up!

Dee in the Happiest Place on Earth

And last, but most definitely not least is a blog. This is my cousin Danielle’s blog telling the tales of an amazing, inspiring, and life-changing journey that she is currently on.

Dee is taking part in a CIDA funded internship in Bhutan (in South Asia). For over a month now she’s been doing research on Community and Youth Wellbeing. Check out her blog HERE to hear some great stories and see beautiful pictures.

Well I’m sure you can enjoy some good, fun, informative time-wasting (though not a waste of time… procrastination perhaps? Web surfing? Edu-tainment?). I hope that everyone had a great start to 2011 and have made some New Year’s Resolutions that you haven’t broken yet!

Love and PANTS!
